Basic Grey 'Periphery'...Muted Color Series

I am very excited to share with you a new series that I am going to be doing which will feature a variety of paper sets. Now...I know that people/manufacturers/blogs/websites, etc. all have their own terminology when it comes to referring to items that we all use regularly, and 'paper' has it's own as well. Because this series is going to continually refer to paper, we need to be on the same 'page' (no pun...well, ok...you caught me).
I refer to it as 'patterned paper'. Easy-peasy.
These cards were created using Basic Grey's 'Periphery' set. It is not one of the newest sets, but I am just getting around to being inspired by it and I must say, I can't put it away. I have altered some of the colors by ink distressing the edges, but what you see is pretty much what you get with these fabulous papers.
This is all paper layering including the die cuts, which were a part of the set. The only 'extras' were the alpha die cuts (which are from Paper Studio), flowers (everybody's favorite Primas) and the fibers, brads and buttons. The stamps (Scrappy Cat) were a perfect fit with the giant letters. I also squeezed a little Artful INKables image in from the Steampunk Sarah Set.
It's the tiny, little gear on the tiny, little tag.
My philosophy is 'it's all in the details'.
Not a lot of stamping here, but hopefully these cards will inspire you to look at what YOU might have that can be layered and distressed.
If you are one who purchases your patterned papers by the sheet, the design sheets used on these projects are 'pinot noir', 'Sauvignon' and 'cork' all from the Basic Grey Periphery Set. That's it...just those three designs. The set has so many more to choose from and I will be sharing more of those with you soon.

Each week, I look forward to sharing a new series with you. In the meantime, do you already have a favorite set of 'patterned papers' or is there a set you have that you keep pulling out but then end up putting back because you just don't know what to do? I'd love for you to share....just leave a comment at the end of this post...
let's see what we can do together!

Basic Grey are my favourite papers. I'm more of a paper horder than a paper user. I like to take out my papers, stroke them, smile and put them back:) I think that's a hobby in itself ;)

I love the close ups you have done - details are really great. I love the Elusive images papers on the Cds, but I very rarely use them. However, now I am entering challenges I have started using things that have been left so hopefully this will apply to them too!!!!

Hi, Julie! Thanks for coming by my blog! I can't wait to see what these play dates are! I've never heard of them.

I don't know my "papers" very well. I have some that I like but I don't know the names of them! I'm learning, though. ☺

Hi Julie

What a fantastic collection of colours, textures, embellishments and techniques you have here. That paper is brilliantly adorned! As you say, it's all in the detail, I really like it.

I'm with Sarah on the paper front, paper appreciation is definitely a hobby in itself!

That's probably why I love making my own papers as I know I can make some more, I can then keep all the others! Just a thought as to why I do it.

About 20 years ago I bought a sheet of papyrus, I've stroked and smiled at it ever since. I had a special card to make that cried out for it, (probably about 10 years ago), and I cut off a 2" square, it was all I could bring myself to cut off.

I've regretted it ever since. How sad am I? It was for a special person though, otherwise I wouldn't have let those scissors anywhere near it.

I'm not that great at scrapbooking, but how can you go wrong with all that stuff!

Thank you for your kind comments on my blog..I wasn't aware that my name was mentioned in one of their ad's...either way...I have been called "Maxwell" all my life as a nickname...and my Dad would be proud (always taught us to be proud of that Maxwell/Scottish heritage)...have a wonderful Sunday! :)
