Fond Memories of Peter Rabbit

What on earth does that title have to do with this post?

The color inspiration over at this week's Just Us Girls Challenge used
this fabulous print from Beatrix Potter's most beloved Peter Rabbit.
My wonderful friend Mona is on the JUGS team and I have been
promising that I would try and play soon.
THIS was the perfect inspiration to make that happen!

Before I share my fond memories of Peter and his friends
here are the details on this card.

The stamps fun mushrooms are by Hero Arts and the
sentiment is from Scrappy Cat.
(Just as a fun fact, the 'shrooms were stamped in
Adirondack Mushroom ink from Ranger)
The polka dot papers are from
DCWV 'Linen Closet (the brown) and
My Mind's Eye 'Quite Contrary' (the yellow).
The flower is a fab silk blossom out of Michael's $1 bin,
that I actually got for 25 cents.  Such a deal!

Nearly 26 years ago, I decorated my daughter's entire nursery in
Peter Rabbit...from head to toe or ceiling to floor.  Part of the memory
that is so precious to me is that while our family was away on a little
vacation, my dad was walking by this very upscale baby store
and there was this Jenny Lind crib all decked out and he asked
if I liked it...I LOVED it.
Over $350 later (a LOT of money 26 years ago)
I was on my way home with this beautiful set.
Yes, I do still have some bits and pieces tucked
away in a cedar chest.

So tell me...do you or maybe your children
like Peter Rabbit and Friends?
I would LOVE to hear about it.

One more thing...I say this a lot, but I can't tell you how
much I appreciate your comments when you stop by.
I want to be able to reciprocate, but I can't do that if
I don't know you were here, so please take a moment
to just say hi because I would LOVE to visit your
blog in return...after all, that's what it's all about!

Such a lovely card, and such a sweet memory of Peter Rabbit--I've always loved Beatrix Potter's soft and lovely illustrations and stories of pesky critters...loved reading them to my babies!

Hope you're having a beautiful day, my friend!

I have all the tiny books from my childhood. Beatrice Potter was my first "crush" on an artist! I have her biography I bought in the 50's with lovely color plates and black and white sketches. Still one of my favorite books.
thanks for the fun memories and fun cards!!

I love this card, Julie! The colored pearls on the mushrooms are so creative and fun. I also love Peter Rabbit - we had touches of Beatrix Potter all over my daughter's room when she was little, and she used to watch her Peter Rabbit video daily. Such precious illustrations, soft colors... what's not to love?

Love the JUGS inspiration this week! I adore Beatrix Potter and suddenly this week, through the JUGS challenge, I've realized that I have not shared that love with my own kidlets yet. Definitely making a mental note to self to get ON that!!

Love that big beautiful sunshine bloom on your card and the scallops, all those scallops simply make me smile! :>

Hi Julie, this is a great card! Love the colors and how you layered straight pieces of DP above and scalloped them below....great design! And of course, what a find with that big fat yellow, sunny flower. Lots of inspiration here; thanks for sharing.

One of my most beloved Authors...Have a couple of large bound volumes with all the stories. My life long dream...to own the entire collection in the small mini sized books like I used to pick at the school library. I rememeber falling asleep with those little guys.

Your card is wonderful, filled with spring time promise.

Smiles!
Gwen

What a lovely, sunny card! I also have very fond memories of Peter and his friends; the nursery we used for all 3 of my children was decorated with all the Beatrix Potter characters (and, of course, the books)! My oldest turned 16 this month and your post brought back many happy memories of times in that nursery!
